The middle section of our fishing on the Macclesfield Canal, extends to 1.25 miles, and lies between Astbury and Moreton, just off the A34 Congleton road. This is a pleasant, peaceful rural location. The canal here features good habitat, with a variety of reeds, trees, moored boats, cattle drinks and sedges to fish to. There are also some decent stands of reeds on the towpath side, providing good cover and breeding / nursery habitat for fish.

Access
There are 5 roads that give access to this section of the canal. The best and easiest access and parking is at the North end of the stretch, at Dodds Lane (Bridge 80) where there is a lay-by adjacent to the canal with parking for up to 10 cars.

There is limited access at all other bridges, with small laybys by each one with parking for 2-4 cars.

Fishing
The stretch offers decent canal fishing with a variety of features. General fishing for roach, perch and bream in autumn and spring when the boat traffic eases can be excellent. The stretch holds some quality roach, perch and a small head of ghost carp.
