The fishery is approx 4 miles, single bank of the River Severn on the Loton Park Estate at Alderbury – 8 miles south of Shrewsbury.
There is parking at either end of the stretch. The wide flood plain prevents one driving to the river in wet conditions – parking in farm lanes only. In dry conditions, using the dirt tracks, one can drive to the river bank. However, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended.
Species include chub, barbel, dace, roach, bream, carp, perch, pike, eels, trout, grayling and salmon.
The banks of the river vary, it is advisable to take a strong stick to beat down nettles and reeds to create yourself a safe swim. Please take care, the water can be very deep right down the edge (7-10 feet in places).
